As a full service medical facility, Deaconess serves
almost every patient need. On this page, we provide a brief overview of some
of our main patient services.
Cancer Center
Incorporates a variety of treatment
and diagnostic areas including; radiation oncology, pediatric outpatient clinic,
inpatient oncology care, outpatient chemotherapy. Radiology includes mammography,
x-ray, CT, MRI, 2 linear accelerators, PET scanning and a gamma knife.
We have a GYN/Surgical Oncologist,
Dr. Elizabeth Grosen on staff. As of September, 2001 we are in the process
of procuring Dr. Grosen an associate to further enhance our service.
Cardiology Services
The regional Heart Center includes an updated
CCU and ICU with central monitoring and decentralized nursing stations, digital-based
heart catheterization labs and EPS labs. Spokane and Deaconess have long been known
as a cutting-edge treatment center for cardiac disease and continues this trend with
emergent catheterization/angioplasty and/or CABG and aggressive use of thrombolytics.
Health & Education Center
A state-of-the-art conference facility is
available to the hospital and community. The Health Information Center provides current
information on diseases, therapies and health issues for physicians and patients. In
addition, Spokane hospitals are linked by an interactive telemedicine network that enables
exchange of medical information both locally and to rural affiliates.
Nephrology
Deaconess has four Nephrologists on staff providing complete renal
services with inpatient dialysis.
Pastoral Care / Social Services
Deaconess has 24 hour Pastoral Care
coverage as well as a Clinical Pastoral Education training program. Along
with Social Services they assist with patient planning and discharge as well
as providing spiritual and emotional support for patients, families and staff.
Pediatrics
A newly remodeled pediatric center focuses on
family-centered care with its family conference rooms, laundry and cooking facilities. Our
pediatric intensive care unit, is part of the multi-level care provided in this new
contemporary pediatric center. Pediatric intensivists are on staff.
Specialty Units / Programs / Clinics
Orthopedic and neurological services
have units for their specialties. Behavioral Health programs are available
for inpatients and outpatients. We also have a cystic fibrosis clinic.
Trauma Services
A state-of-the-art Level II Trauma Care Unit is
part of the 24-hour emergency room. Emergency air ambulance services are provided by
Northwest MedStar.
Women's and Children's Center
This center offers a family-centered maternity
program. It includes a mother-baby unit with private labor and delivery rooms,
birthing center and neonatal intensive care unit. Our Women's and Children's
Center boast the highest number of deliveries for all area hospitals.
Ancillary Support Services
The hospital provides an active IV Therapy team
to perform PICC line placements, IV starts and assist with central line placements.
An excellent phlebotomy team performs blood draws. Twenty-four hour service is
provided by radiology, cardiovascular and the laboratory departments.
